The first set of Champions League fixtures gave us no injuries which is positive. The biggest FPL relevant news came with Brighton and Palace game being postponed and Tuchel being sacked so we will focus in on those before the usual fixture runs and buy/sell section.
Brighton v.s. Palace Postponed
This means that your Brighton assets and Palace assets will not play in gameweek 8.
If you own several of these you should probably be looking to get rid of them at some point before gameweek 8.
I don’t mind playing Andreas or Neco Williams in 8 because of good fixtures. So, if it comes to that I wouldn’t mind it.
Sanchez is a problem because your backup keeper is probably Ward who will concede to Spurs. Probably not worth using a transfer here unless you want to make a long term change.
Tuchel Sacked! Potter takes over
Kind of surprising news that Tuchel has been sacked as Chelsea manager. By all accounts he lacks any social skills but the results haven’t been that bad. Maybe he got sacked because he kept playing Ruben Loftus Cheek?
What does this mean for your FPL team? I wouldn’t be looking to buy any Chelsea assets until we know what Graham Potter will do with the team. Probably not worth selling any of them this week unless you were planning to do so anyway.
Potter will be leaving Brighton and I think that makes all Brighton assets worse. Given this and an upcoming blank week, I think you can get rid of any of them. It can also wait a week.
Best Five Week Fixture Runs
Playing Fantasy Premier League by buying good players with good fixtures is a sure fire way to improve your rank. The teams are ranked in order of best fixture (just focused on the top 5 teams) with home fixtures in caps and away in lower case.
| 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 11 | |
| WHU | NEW | eve | WOL | FUL | sou |
| NFO | lee | FUL | lei | AVL | wol |
| LEI | AVL | tot | NFO | bou | CRY |
| AVL | lei | SOU | lee | nfo | CHE |
| FUL | CHE | nfo | NEW | whu | BOU |
None of the big teams have great fixtures and most of these teams have been terrible. I think the only team I would consider in this list right now is West Ham, where I would take the defensive assets.
I, of course, like Mitrovic as an option but would wait a week right now.
Best Captains
It’s Haaland. Even against Spurs, he is just too good.
If you want to do something different I don’t mind Jesus, though Everton’s defence has improved, or Kane, because Spurs are good on the break against City.
I don’t trust Mo for captaincy at the moment and definitely not against a solid Wolves defence.
Should I Buy?
Newcastle – Yes. Pope, Trippier, Isak are all excellent
Rashford – Yeah, he’s playing out of position forward. I’m curious to see if he plays in Europe. If he does, maybe he will get rested at the weekend.
Antony – No. Need to see him play more minutes before committing. Wait and see.
Saka – No. Not seen enough for his price. Let’s not chase points from last week.
Should I Sell?
Trent Alexander Arnold – No. Wolves attack is appalling. He might finally get a clean.
Perisic – I am. I hate rotation risk. I don’t know what I was thinking getting him in the first place.
Cucurella – I don’t mind if you do. As above, I don’t like rotation risk with Chilwell. But I will hold, as it’s not my priority.
Jesus – No. I know Toney got a hat-trick and Mitro is on fire but Jesus is better than them both and plays for a better team. Play three at the front – Haaland, Jesus, Mitro/Toney.
My Moves
I will be moving Perisic to Trippier. Been thinking about it all week, and I can’t see a reason not to. Perisic is yet another example of getting caught up in early-season hype – when will we all learn?
