Greetings all, and welcome to a comprehensive look at the very best FPL fixtures, starting in Gameweek 11.
Planning long-term in FPL is usually a fool’s game… even if it’s fun regardless. Looking only at the short-term tends to see you ending up with no transfers, and knee-jerking based on one or two good performances.
So, where should we be living? In the mid-term, friend!
And, mid-term fixtures are exactly what we’ll be looking at in this Gameweek 11 preview. Join me, as we cast our beady eyes over the top attacking and defensive upcoming matchups in Fantasy Premier League.
Did you know that we’ve got our very own FDR fixture ticker?
You didn’t?! Well, consider yourself informed, and you can check that out – whenever you please, and completely free of charge – right here.
It’s regularly updated, and – we like to think – it’s accurate too.
It’s also exactly the tool I used to arrive at these fine FPL fixtures as the very best for attackers, beginning in Gameweek 11.

Obviously, there’s a big, ugly fixture against Man City looming first of all. Also, I’m not rushing to believe that they’ve righted the ship, just yet – Villa were pretty suicidal last week, with Emi literally passing the ball to Salah in front of an open goal for their first.
That being said… the fixtures from GW12 onwards are absolutely incredible. We need at least one attacker for these, with Gakpo looking the best blend of reliability and price right now.
This will be short, and not-so-sweet.
I don’t want any City attackers, whatsoever, apart from Haaland.
I don’t care who played well, in any given week. There is absolutely no guarantee they’ll still be starting the next game, or the game thereafter.
We’ve seen it already this season, with Doku. He was playing well, was highly-bought… and promptly got benched out of nowhere.
It’s Pep. Don’t fall into the trap.
Brighton have looked solid recently, scoring at least two goals in their last three games. They also took care of business against Leeds in style, which is exactly what you want to see when you’re trying to exploit nice fixture runs.
Palace away isn’t a great first fixture. After that though, at least three of the next four are nice matchups. And, if Villa are going to keep passing the ball to pressing attackers right outside their own box, that could also mean plenty of points.
We’ve seen enough now to accept that Welbeck is legit this season. At only 6.5, he’s probably the best-value forward around right now.
I also love Minteh. He passes the eye test, he’s got the underlying stats, and he gets returns too. I got him in myself two gameweeks ago, and he’s got three assists already. He costs 6.0, and he’s still less than 5% owned. Join me.
The neverending nice fixture run continues. Unfortunately, so does Arsenal’s lacklustre attacking play.
Gyokores finally ended his barren run… but it was a pretty fortuitous goal, falling right to him from a corner. As an owner, I’m holding, but I still wouldn’t rush to get him in.
Saka has been disappointing. Again, hold him if you’ve got him, but you can’t bring him in based on current form.
I kept telling people not to get Rice. I’m just about ready to admit defeat. It’s surely impossible he carries on racking up points at this pace. But, at worst, he’s the excellent set piece taker for a team that’s unstoppable from set pieces.
Everyone’s favourite FPL team, all of a sudden.
Chances are, you probably own at least one or two of their attackers already. If not, now’s probably the time to rectify that.
Haaland aside, Mateta is the most reliable forward in FPL right now. If you can make room for him, do so.
I also love Sarr, and will probably get him in myself this week. He remains excellent value, and was unlucky not to score against Brentford, doing brilliantly but just hitting the post.
Hmm. What to make of the Cherries?
They looked just as excellent as James and I had predicted, heading into the season. The past few weeks, they’ve been much more hit-and-miss.
You’re obviously holding Semenyo if you’ve got him – let’s not get crazy here. Based on their recent form, however, I wouldn’t bring anyone in for Villa away. We can take another look before the West Ham/Sunderland double, but no other assets are exactly leaping off the screen at me.
Another hmm.
On the one hand, they’re one of the flattest attacks in the league. On the other… they now play Wolves, Burnley, and Leeds within their next four games.
I’m feeling pretty smug about holding Joao Pedro right now, and trying not to feel extremely bitter about his woeful finishing against Spurs not getting me at least a hat trick.
It’s a bit hard to recommend bringing him in again, after one decent game. I would hold him if you’ve kept the faith, however. And, if he has another good game against Wolves, you could definitely consider him as a short-term forward, especially with the AFCON mini-wildcard coming up.
Caicedo is also in my Declan Rice category. I have to admit, at some point, that his attacking returns might be – if not sustainable at this rate – at least not a flash-in-the-pan. He’s still only 6.0, and – even if he doesn’t keep getting goals and assists – has a reliable and regular 4pt floor thanks to his defensive contributions.
I don’t think Enzo is worth 0.7 more than Caicedo. Especially when he’s such a streaky attacking player, and isn’t currently in form.
If you hadn’t heard, the arrival of defensive contributions has meant big at the back… is back.
(Check out James’s excellent article about how and when defenders are actually getting their DC points, if you haven’t already).
The fact that forwards and midfielders have been pretty crap in general this year also means we’ve got plenty of money to splash around back there.
Which teams should we actually target? Glad you asked! Here are your best defensive fixture runs in FPL, beginning in Gameweek 11.

Ever heard of them?
If you haven’t got at least one Arsenal defender by now, I don’t know what to tell you. I’ve been more than happy with my Gabriel/Saliba double-up, over the past few weeks, and wish I’d just gone the whole hog and got either Raya or Timber too.
They’ve conceded three goals all season, and still have nice fixtures.
You cannot spend enough money on Arsenal defenders right now.
Similarly to their attacking players, you can’t bring in any Liverpool defenders before the City game.
After that… we’ll see.
These are dream defensive fixtures. Basically as good as it gets. They’ve been so disappointing at the back this season, however, that it’s hard to trust them again right now.
I’ll probably wait and see for these next couple of games, then jump aboard if they look good at the back in that Forest fixture.
They’ve righted the ship again recently, cleaning against Brentford and Liverpool’s B-team, and only conceding one (excellent) goal against Arsenal.
Their defenders are already popular picks… but, with these fixtures, I’m happy to jump on board the hype train. Actually, I already did, nabbing Munoz last week for a tidy little clean sheet.
Brighton and Man U aren’t amazing matchups, but they’re both at home. The other three games here – Wolves, Burnley, and Fulham – are nice matchups, and should be targeted.
Munoz is probably the best attacking/defensive combo defender in FPL right now, and I think he’s worth the extra money. If you can’t go that high, Guehi and Lacroix are still just fine.
Basically, I refer you to what I said about their attacking fixtures. They were also excellent defensively to start the season, and have also slipped here in their last five games.
You’re holding (and probably starting) Senesi, for example, for these next four excellent fixtures. I wouldn’t rush to actually buy any of their defenders right now, though.
In terms of actual clean sheet potential, I’m not interested in them at all right now.
They haven’t cleaned in their last seven games, across the Prem and League Cup, and that includes games matchups against Sunderland, West Ham, and Wolves. So, I can’t trust them to do so now, even against the likes of Fulham or Forest.
Tarkowski and Keane are both startable regardless, if you’ve got them, hitting on defensive contributions in roughly half their games. They’re not worth actually buying right now, though.
City are slightly more set at the back than they are going forward. Dias has started seven games in a row, for example, and Nunes five.
I still don’t trust any of them. They literally have 8-9 defenders they could conceivably start in any given week. That is both insane, and a recipe to be randomly disappointed in FPL.
Newcastle have let me down big-time recently.
I backed them in both our Full 90 FPL content, and hitting in Pope a few weeks ago. Since then I’ve been rewarded with one clean sheet, and a whole lot of disappointment.
They didn’t clean against Fulham at home. They just shipped three goals to West Ham. Sigh.
Brentford away is a fine matchup, so we have to start our defenders/Pope in that one. We’ll probably also start them in the Everton and Burnley games, bench them for City, and let’s see how they’re looking when Jekyll-and-Hyde Spurs go up to St James Park.
Well, that’ll just about do it for this look at the best FPL fixture runs, beginning in Gameweek 11.
We’ve looked at attackers, and defenders. We’ve shared some laughs, done some deep thinking, and all learned a thing or two along the way.
Keep your eyes peeled for plenty more Gameweek 11 preview goodness, from both myself (Joe) and James. In the meantime, thanks for reading, everybody!
