After open-play goalscoring, and along with clean sheet potential, set piece takers are one of the most important factors in FPL.
Knowing who delivers the corners, who steps up for free kicks, and who takes penalties for every Premier League club really can make a difference in picking the right players.
In FPL, those ‘right players’ don’t have to be superstars. They don’t even have to be that good at actually playing football.
If they do nothing else in a game but score a pen, that’s still a nice return for you. If they contribute nothing else but whipping in corners and free kicks, that gives them solid assist potential – and, thus, also points potential for you.
This is our full FPL set piece takers guide for the 2026-27 season, covering all 20 Premier League clubs.
For each team you’ll find their penalty taker(s), corner and free kick deliverers, and – crucially – our honest take on whether or not you should actually care about these players as FPL picks.
We’ll update this page throughout the season as pens are scored and missed, injuries happen, managers get sick of certain players, and so on.

Notes:
- The current list is for the 26-27 preseason. These picks are based on what happened last season, so we can’t guarantee they’ll be accurate for the start of this season.
Players we’re not sure about are indicated by a question mark, or comment.
- In some cases, there’s a big dropoff from one spot to the next. This is indicated by three dashes.
At Arsenal, for example, Rice and Saka are the clear best options for corner takers. Madueke might technically be third on the list… but that has no actual bearing on FPL unless Saka gets injured (as usual)
Arsenal
Penalties
Corner Takers
—
—
Free Kick Takers
Appeal: High
- Must still be regarded as set piece kings, as of now
- Duel goal/assist threats for Saka and Rice – through penalties/set pieces
- Set piece prowess adds small appeal to defenders too, via attacking set pieces
Aston Villa
Penalties
Corner Takers
Free Kick Takers
Appeal: Medium-Low
- Villa actually scored 0 Premier League pens in 25/26 – so we can’t be sure who takes them this year
- That said, Buendia went 2/3 in other comps. Watkins went 1/2, and has historically not been trusted on pens by Emery
- Buendia is the best set piece taker (now that Digne has left), but isn’t nailed. So, we can’t rely on him… but we also don’t know who takes them when he’s off the pitch
Bournemouth
Penalties
—
Corner Takers
Free Kick Takers
Appeal: Medium-Low
- Logjam on set pieces, and nobody ended up with more than 4 assists last season
- Tavernier does hold some appeal. He went 2/2 on pens last season (albeit Kluivert was often injured), and is on other set pieces too. Decent shout, at 6.0
Brentford
Penalties
—
Corner Takers
Free Kick Takers
- Lewis Potter
- Jensen
- Damsgaard
Appeal: Medium
- Penalties played an enormous part in Thiago’s success last season – he went 8/9
- This is also completely unsustainable. Nobody else took more than 6
- Jensen is on set pieces, and got very unlucky last season – 2 assists on 6.06 xA, with only 26 starts. One to watch, at only 5.5
Brighton
Penalties
—
- O’Riley? (1/1 last season)
Corner Takers
Free Kick Takers
Appeal: Low
- No idea who the penalty taker is now
- Gross holds some appeal, but did outperform his xA last season
Chelsea
Penalties
—
- Joao Pedro? (Previously excellent at Brighton)
Corner Takers
Free Kick Takers
Appeal: High
- Despite all the injuries, Palmer still took 6 pens last season, and scored 5
- If James is fit (har har), corners+free kicks+excellent crossing+presumably better defence = lots of routes to points
Coventry
Penalties
—
Corner Takers
Free Kick Takers
Appeal: Low
- But if they get a penalty, it’ll probably be Wright! (3/3 in the Championship last year)
Crystal Palace
Penalties
—
Corner Takers
- Pino
- Wharton (if still there)
—
Free Kick Takers
Appeal: Medium
- Mateta 4/4 on pens last season
- Sarr clear number two, when Mateta’s not playing – 3/3 on pens
- Pino best assist threat – very good free kick taker, and will (presumably) take most corners when Wharton (presumably) leaves
Everton
Penalties
—
Corner Takers
- Garner
- McNeill
- Dewsbury-Hall
Free Kick Takers
Appeal: Medium
- Garner has so many routes to points. Set pieces helped him to 7 assists on 6.18 xGA last season. Also got 458 DefCons (that’s a lot), and started every game. Only 6.0
- Ndiaye is a good penalty taker, but was very up and down last season. Pens wouldn’t sway me towards risking him to start the season
Fulham
Penalties
- Robinson? (Jimenez has left; Robinson 1/1 last season)
Corner Takers
Free Kick Takers
- ??? (H Wilson and Jimenez have left)
Appeal: Low
We’ve got absolutely no idea who’ll be taking most of the set pieces!
Hull City
Penalties
- McBurnie (3/3 last season)
—
Corner Takers
Free Kick Takers
Appeal: Low
- Promoted team – don’t back them in any way until they’ve proven they’re not rubbish
Ipswich
Penalties
—
- Philogene (2/2)
- Hirst (1/2)
Corner Takers
Free Kick Takers
—
Appeal: Low
Leeds
Penalties
—
Corner Takers
Free Kick Takers
Appeal: Medium
- Leeds scored 3rd-most set piece goals in the league
- DCL clear top penalty taker, and scored 5/6 last season
- Stach got 6 assists last year…
- But Harry Wilson is there now, and could pinch set pieces – stay tuned
Liverpool
Penalties
- Szoboszlai? (Salah left; Szoboszlai 0/1 last season; no other takers)
- Isak?
Corner Takers
Free Kick Takers
Appeal: Medium
- Liverpool fine in set piece goals last season – tied for 8th
- If Szoboszlai is on pens, he has so many routes to points, with set piece delivery and DefCons too… but it could be Isak, as it was at Newcastle
- Isak probably will take them, if I had to bet my life. Liverpool only got 2 pens all season last year, but that will surely increase
Man City
Penalties
—
- Semenyo? (1/2 at Bournemouth last season)
Corner Takers
—
Free Kick Takers
—
Appeal: Medium
- City tied for 16th in set piece goals scored last season
- Cherki most likely set piece taker who will actually start. Did massively outperform xGA last season (13 assists vs 8.87 xA)
- Haaland went 3/4 on pens last year
Man United
Penalties
- Bruno Fernandes (obviously)
Corner Takers
—
Free Kick Takers
—
Appeal: High
- Specifically for Bruno. When you’re on penalties and basically all set pieces, that gives you a hell of a lot of assist potential
- Man U second-best team last season for goals from set pieces – only 3 behind Arsenal
Newcastle
Penalties
- Woltemade
- Bruno G (if still there)
Corner Takers
—
Free Kick Takers
Appeal: Medium?
- Somewhat depends on if Bruno G leaves or not
- Tied 4th in set piece goals last season
-
- Hall only 5.0, and presumably delivering set pieces, but mediocre xA of 2.78 last season (one fewer than season before, playing roughly same minutes). Meh.
Nottingham Forest
Penalties
—
Corner Takers
Free Kick Takers
—
Appeal: Low
- Can’t be sure who takes pens. Three different players went 1/1 in Prem last season. MGW took the most in other comps, but only scored 2/4 (3/5 including EPL). Wood was also injured a lot, but went 2/2 when he played
- Not enough crossover between corner and free kick takers to back any single player
- 15th in set piece goals last season
Sunderland
Penalties
—
Corner Takers
Free Kick Takers
Appeal: Medium
- High for Le Fee. He’s only 6.0, is on pens, and set pieces helped him to 6 assists in 25/26. And he got 319 DefCons last season
- Medium for Xhaka. 6 assists but only 3.73 xA
- Low for Sunderland as a whole – 18th in set piece goals last season
Tottenham
Penalties
(Spurs scored 0 penalties last season – so this is largely guesswork)
—
Corner Takers
Free Kick Takers
Appeal: Medium-Low
- Okay at set pieces last year – tied 7th in goals scored
- Can’t be sure who’s on pens. Simons last year, but he’s injured. Kudus and Richarlison both went 1/1 in Europe
- Porro being on set pieces does give him additional appeal
