<Salah Going to Saudi> Disclaimer: This post is going up as Transfer Deadline Day is still unfolding. There are still hours remaining in the window, so who knows what could happen. We have an early deadline in FPL this week though, so we wanted to get this up in enough time for you to adjust your team.

We’re at the peak of Crazy Season in FPL. We’ve got tons of transfers, loads of injuries (plus a few suspensions), international football around the corner, and continental competitions after that.
Not to worry – your old pals at Full 90 FPL are here to sort through the madness.
We’ve got a full preview for the week here. Read on for your compact summary of all the FPL news you need to know ahead of Gameweek 4.
Injuries and Bans
- Udogie
Fear not – he’s going to be okay. He went off injured during the Bournemouth game, but Ange says he’s fine. He was on the bench for the cup game mid-week, and should presumably be back in the starting lineup for Gameweek 4.
- Reece James
The latest is that Reece James will be back after the international break. Chelsea are apparently hoping for him back by the September 17th game vs Bournemouth, in FPL Gameweek 5.
This means Gusto is off the menu. Hold him until then if you’ve got him, but don’t bring him in.
- DCL
He fractured his cheekbone, which isn’t a good time in anyone’s book, but apparently it isn’t as bad as first feared. Dyche says he won’t need surgery, and is training already.
He could be back by Gameweek 4, but post-international break seems more likely. We don’t care about him yet, but his return could make Everton generally less crap… until he gets injured again.
(Sorry, that was mean).
- Richarlison
‘Richy’ – as Ange calls him – picked up a knock in the mid-week cup game. He’s been so awful in the Prem thus far that you shouldn’t want him anyway. In fact, Spurs looked far better against Bournemouth after he went off, and Sonny moved up top.
- Varane
He’s out for weeks. Bin him, but not for another Man U defender because their next two fixtures are rubbish.
- Ben Mee
Mee returned to action in the League Cup, and will presumably be starting again for Brentford. He’s great, their defence is very good, so this is nice news for owners of Henry, Pinnock, et al.
- Konate
He’s out this week, against Villa, but should be back after the break. With Van Dijk also suspended, and Villa great on the counter, the chances of Liverpool keeping a clean seem slim to say the least.
- Botman
He got injured late against Liverpool. Apparently it’s not super-serious, but he’ll likely be out this week. Not usually ones for a transfer, Newcastle are nonetheless being linked with centre-backs all over the place… watch this space.
Transfers
We’re right in the thick of silly season, with Premier League clubs splashing the cash like they’re being bankrolled by the Saudi PIF itself. Here’s a quick run through a curated selection of those many moves, which have actual FPL relevance.
- Fati to BHA
Ansu Fati to Brighton, here we go! Deal in place between #BHAFC and Barça as revealed earlier, verbal agreeement now done 🚨🔵✨
◉ NO buy option clause.
◉ Loan deal until June 2024.
◉ Main part of salary covered.Travel booked on Thursday, Brighton want it signed ASAP. ⭐️ pic.twitter.com/1yHKYArJ9I
— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) August 30, 2023
The most surprising and intriguing move of the week.
I lived in Barcelona and saw Fati live at least a half-dozen times over the past couple of seasons. He’s direct and relentless, shoots a lot, loves to take on defenders, and his finishing – always pretty good – can really be excellent.
He’s also constantly injured , Xavi never really fancied him, and Brighton already have an excellent left-winger.
Technically Fati can probably play up top, but he’s at his best driving in from the left. He definitely isn’t an immediate threat to Mitoma, but he’s incredibly talented (if inconsistent), and it’ll be fascinating to see how this plays out.
- Palmer to CHE
Also a very surprising move!
Palmer has shown flashes, but he’s definitely still an unknown quantity. He played fewer than 900 mins (i.e. less than 10 full games) for City in all competitions last year, and finished with just 1 goal and 1 assist.
He’s also been coached by Pep Guardiola for several years, and Chelsea just dropped around 40 mill on him, so we have to take notice.
He’s only 5.0 in FPL, but this just feels like more of a headache in fantasy than an opportunity. They’ve already got loads of attackers, even if a couple are injured right now, and this just further muddies the waters.
- Nunes to MCI
Rumoured for a while, and basically confirmed now.
Simply makes Pep Roulette that little bit more annoying.
- Hudson-Odoi to Notts Forest
Per Fabrizio Romano, CHO is headed to Forest. I guess it’s an exciting (and surprising) story, but we haven’t seen him properly in the Prem for years now… and he didn’t actually look that great back then.
All that said, he’s also only 4.9 in FPL. Between him, the excellent Awoniyi, and Gibbs-White (who knows if Brennan Johnson sticks around), Forest could be building a decent attack. If they do, CHO would be by far the cheapest way in.
- Dean Henderson to CRY
Bit of a strange one. Apparently Guaita went in a big sulk when Johnstone became Roy’s #1, so maybe Hendo is just joining as the backup. This makes Johnstone too risky to consider right now regardless, even behind Palace’s strong defence.
- Lenglet to AST
Presumably just a Mings replacement. I like Lenglet as a player, but it’s hard to see him displacing Konsa, Carlos, or Torres as a starter.
- Beto to EVE
Shockingly I’ve never seen him play. But Everton – who are broke – just spent 25 mill on him, so he’ll presumably be competing for DCL’s starting striker spot, and he’s cheap at 6.0.
- Castagne to FUL
Another slightly strange move, since Tete and Decordova-Reid are both solid. We probably don’t care anyway.
In other Cottagers news, Palhinha is apparently going to Bayern Munich. I think he’s a really solid player, so this would definitely hurt a team who have already looked poor this season.
- Baleba to BRI
He’ll be moving to Chelsea for 100 mill this time next year.
- Archer to SHU
This was already on the cards, but has now been confirmed. With all the Blades’ many injuries, he’ll probably be starting up top. That gives us two starting 4.5 forwards, along with Bournemouth’s Semenyo.
- Kudus to WHU
Even West Ham fans don’t have a clue where he’s going to play. But apparently he’s a very exciting player.
He’s 6.5, sticking him right in that Mbeumo/Eze/Mitoma zone. Definitely one to watch though, with West Ham suddenly being relevant again since returning to all-out absorb and counter football.
- Forest News
They just signed a new goalkeeper, Vlachodimos. Since he’s been Benfica’s #1 for years, I’m going to say this is bad news for all of us Turner owners. Will the starting-quality 4.0 goalkeeper dream never come true?
Other Competitions
I hope you enjoyed your three weeks of only having to think about one competition. Now you have five others to worry about!
- League Cup
Already started, and has already led to injuries (like Richarlison). The next round starts on September 26th, between Gameweeks 6 and 7
- International Fixtures
They start next week, but the Premier League will be back the week after. Full schedule of who’s playing who here
- Champions League
The first round of group games is on September 19th-20th, between FPL Gameweeks 5 and 6. The second round is on October 3rd-4th, between Gameweeks 7 and 8
- Europa League and Conference League
Both take place in the same weeks as the Champions League. Specifically the games are on September 21st (before GW 6) and October 5th (before GW 8)
