It feels like Gameweek 33 just ended (which it did), and we’ve already got Gameweek 34 coming up on Saturday morning. The fast-paced life of an FPL manager just never slows down, eh?
Join us in taking a very quick breather before we get onto the next round, with our speedy FPL tips for Gameweek 34.
Double Gameweek Fixtures
We’re absolutely jam-packed with games this week:

The eagle-eyed among you may have spotted that some teams have two FPL fixtures. Imagine that!
Here are our double gameweek teams:
- Brighton
- Fulham
- Liverpool
- Man City
- Man U
- West Ham
No offence to Fulham or West Ham, but we don’t care about you in FPL.
That leaves us with Brighton, Liverpool, Man City, and Man U. Who… just so happen to be four of the top eight teams in the league. Exciting!
Obviously, you should be going all-out to target doubles this week. Use your free hit, if you’ve been hanging onto it. If not, it’s perfectly fine to take a hit for these FPL fixtures (with the usual proviso that you expect to make up more than those 4pts lost).
Should I Buy?
You’ll be shocked to know that this week’s ‘Most Bought’ list is dominated by players who have a double. Let’s take a quick look at whether or not you should follow the crowd in each case.
- Rashford – Yes. He’s immediately been great again after the injury, and is the definition of must-own
- Stones – He’s fine. People are getting him because he’s scored goals in back to back games, which obviously won’t continue. That said, he’s starting regularly, and has five amazing defensive fixtures coming up (Fulham, West Ham, Leeds, Everton, Chelsea – dreamy!)
- Grealish – He’s started 13 league games in a row now, which is unheard-of for a Pep forward. He probably doesn’t start both games this week, but is still cheap at 7.3. Hold him if you’ve got him, but I wouldn’t rush to buy
- De Bruyne – He’s amazing, and is absolutely on fire, with three goals and five assists in his last four games. That said, he’s still super expensive at 12.1. I slightly prefer Salah… I guess? But Kev’s looking back to being an FPL stud right now
- Alexander-Arnold – Yes. Liverpool still never ever keep cleans, but Trent is suddenly back to being an assist machine. He’s got them in four games in a row now, since Klopp copied Pep (and latterly Arteta) and changed his position
- Jota – Wait and see. He’s carrying a knock, but I don’t mind him if he is fit, especially as a way to save money on Kane
- Gakpo – I guess so, but I’m not completely confident. I’m getting him, as he’s the cheapest attacker for Liverpool’s fixtures, but he’s been very hit and miss
- Brighton Players – Yes. They have a ridiculous three double gameweeks coming up. You should be tripled up with some combination of Mitoma/MacAllister/March and one or two defenders
- Salah – If you can afford it, he’s got as high a ceiling as anyone until the end of the season (apart from that big Norwegian guy). Personally I prefer to spend the money elsewhere, but you can’t really argue against Mo
- Isak / Wilson – Tough one. They have a few great attacking fixtures through to the end of the season… but we don’t know which one will start. Isak has started way more, so we’re (I’m an owner, now) hoping the Wilson game against Everton was just a blip. I definitely wouldn’t get Wilson, but would be prepared to gamble on Isak
- Shaw – Meh. I’m holding him for the two doubles, but I don’t feel great about it. There are more appealing options, like a Brighton double, moving up to Trent, or spending a little more on Stones (since Shaw doesn’t play LB anyway right now, so won’t get any attacking returns)
Should I Sell?
You will also be shocked to know that the Most Sold list is dominated by players who aren’t doubling, but do cost a decent amount of money. Let’s see if these fellas are really worth binning.
- Saka / Martinelli / Odegaard – Regrettably, yes. If you’ve got two Arsenal mids then I’d keep Martinelli and sell the other one. They don’t look great in any area of the pitch, and now have the Chelsea, Newcastle, and Brighton defences coming up
- Kane – I’m holding. He’s expensive, so it’s always tempting to sell… But come on, he returns every single week. He also has Liverpool this week, who never keep cleans, then Palace at home the week after
- Watkins – I don’t feel great about it, but yes. I’m not panicking after a couple of blanks, following his ridiculous run before that. But his upcoming fixtures are very tough, and there are more appealing options out there (a fit Jota, an Isak gamble, or saving money and going big in midfield being three examples)
- Toney – He quite literally scores every other week, and has Forest at home now, so he probably will get a goal. Hold him for this fixture, if you’ve got him
- Trippier – He’s actually coming off five blanks in a row, so I understand the panic. Southampton this week is a great fixture this week though, and he doubles in GW 36. If it’s literally him versus Trent, I’d choose Trent, but keep Trips if there’s any reasonable way to do so
- White / Gabriel – Yes. Arsenal are shipping goals for fun at the moment
- Grealish – No. Hold him for the double, and see if he randomly gets benched for both games (it could always happen, with Pep)
My Moves
I was actually quite happy with my team going into this week. But I had two free transfers, and obviously I couldn’t waste them.
Then one thing led to another, and I ended up making three transfers and taking a hit… Double gameweeks do strange things to the mind, I suppose.
My moves were:
- Henry (Brentford) to Trent
- Saka to Gakpo
- Watkins to Isak
Trent feels must-own right now, between his performances and Liverpool’s fixtures.
As noted earlier, Gakpo is the cheapest Liverpool attacking player, even if I’m not convinced by him.
I wanted to keep Watkins, but he had to go to fund the other two moves. Originally I was going to just get a cheap enabler, since I’ve got so many starting calibre players already. Isak’s in fine form though, and he’s got great fixtures coming up.
After all that, here’s my Gameweek 34 team:
Benching both Trippier and Isak against the worst team in the league doesn’t exactly feel amazing. But, again, double gameweeks make us do strange things.
Oh, and obviously you’re captaining Haaland this week. Don’t overthink it.
Final Thoughts
This should be a fun gameweek. It’ll certainly be a high-scoring one, anyway, and scoring points is fun! Again, don’t be afraid to attack this gameweek quite aggressively, and take a hit if you need to. That’s especially true if you’re bringing in players with other upcoming doubles, from teams like Man U, Man City, and – especially – Brighton.
