Greetings all, and welcome to your comeback special transfer tips column for Gameweek 32.
Obviously, all that anyone’s talking about right now – in FPL circles and, I like to think, in real-life too – is all the upcoming doubles and blanks.
James has written a super-detailed, informative, and indeed useful article telling you everything you need to know about all that stuff. I’d massively recommend you read that here:

Obviously I’ll touch on some of that stuff in this article too, while focusing primarily on the players themselves. It’ll be a slightly messier Transfer Tips column that regular readers are used to… but then, it’s a messy time of the year in Fantasy Premier League!
FPL Gameweek 32 Transfer Tips
Doubles and blanks come and go, but the format for this column remains the same.
I’ll look at the most-bought and sold players among the FPL playing public, heading into Gameweek 32, and cast brutally quick judgements upon each of them.
Do these fine fellows belong on or off your beautiful teams? Let’s find out!
Should I Buy?
- Welbeck – Maybe. Obviously you have to love the next few fixtures – Burnley in 32, then a double against Spurs and Chelsea, both of whom have pretty poor defences. You can also hold him through Newcastle away in 35, and play him against Wolves and Leeds in 36 and 37 – very nice indeed. The only question mark is minutes – he’s old, and he’s injury prone, so I’d be pretty shocked if he started all of these games. At best, of these three nice upcoming fixtures, you’re probably getting two starts plus one appearance off the bench
- Bruno F – Yes. Don’t overthink his lack of doubles – he’s been the best player in the game for a while now
- O’Reilly – Yes. You want at least one City defender for this upcoming run, and he’s a little cheaper than Guehi, with a better chance at attacking returns
- Van Hecke – Yes. Brightons’ defence has actually been solid for a while now, he’s only 4.5, and he’s returned in 5 of his last 6 games. I prefer Brighton’s fixtures from an attacking point of view, but they’re still fine defensively
- Gordon – Maybe. Personally I find it hard to trust him, or Newcastle, but that might be my own problem having been burnt by him (and them) before this season. He’s in good form, with returns in his last three games. I don’t love the fixtures, but they’re fine, and I do think he’s fair value – with some nice upside – at 7.4
- Tarkowski – No. He’s never going to be a ‘bad’ pick, but there are defenders I like more right now – starting with O’Reilly, Van Hecke, and Hill. Everton’s defence has been up and down, and I don’t love the fixtures
- Haaland – Yes. He hasn’t been his normal spectacular self, but you still have to trust him more than any forward in the game, and – with the fixtures – he’s an easy hold through the rest of the season
- Semenyo – Yes. I’d class him as a must-own now. He’s been excellent all season, has all those fixtures, and remains ridiculous value at 8.2
- Senesi – No. I wouldn’t get a Bournemouth defender anyway, since I don’t really like their fixtures. If you desperately want one, just get Hill for almost a million less
- Bowen – No. I absolutely love Bowen in general, especially for his consistency, so this pains me. When accounting for the doubles though, I’d have him ranked below Haaland, and probably DCL/Welbeck too. Particularly because I don’t really like his fixtures – after Wolves and Palace, he has a tricky run for the following four gameweeks
- Gabriel – Yes. Another case of not overthinking the doubles and blanks. He’s the best defender in the game, plays for the best defence, and – City away aside – Arsenal could realistically clean in any of their other remaining fixtures

Should I Sell?
- Ekitike – Yes, and I’ve been saying so for weeks. Not to sound like a broken record, but it doesn’t matter how good your underlying stats are if you don’t actually put the ball in the net
- Joao Pedro – Yes. I know he doubles, but he also plays City first, his fixtures in that double aren’t exactly easy, and he also still has Liverpool and Sunderland away to come this season. Given that he’s tended to beat up on the bad teams (his 19pts against Villa aside), that would make me… slightly nervous, but still happy to bin him. Note that other opinions are obviously available – including from my co-conspirator James, who current has him in his wildcard draft!
- Enzo – Yes. He’s got a little naughty boy-suspension, wasn’t returning anyway, and again I don’t love Chelsea’s fixtures (or performances)
- Mbeumo – Maybe. Obviously I wouldn’t buy/wildcard him in right now, but – as an owner myself – I’m probably going to hold him for one more week, if I don’t wildcard. His performances do have me worried, and I don’t love him playing as the 9, but Leeds at home is a pretty tasty fixture
- Rogers – Yes. I wouldn’t let one return dissuade me, since he blanked in the five games before that, and Villa’s attack has looked awful
- Timber – Yes. Unless we get some magical update confirming that he’s fully fit and starting again, it’s too much money to be tied up in someone who is some combination of injured/benched by Ben White. Given that he wasn’t even the squad against Sporting, that seems unlikely
- Palmer – Yes. James is a lot higher on him than I am, as you can read in his piece. I know he’s got the potential for explosive returns, but he also blanks a hell of a lot, Chelsea have looked poor recently, and – again – I don’t love the fixtures. If you’re wildcarding and can fit him in alongside a lot of more reliable players (Bruno F, Semenyo, Gabriel, etc.) that’s fine, but I wouldn’t prioritise him
- Thiago – No, if you’re not wildcarding – I’m fine to hold him this week for Everton at home, then move him for Welbeck/DCL at around his price point for the doubles in 32
- Rice – Yes. He’s no better than Elliot Anderson any more, while costing vastly more money
- VVD – No, if you’re not wildcarding. His returns have dried up recently, but his next three defensive fixtures are very good indeed
- H Wilson – Yes. Gratefully accept your nice return from the Burnley game, and promptly move him on for this tough run of upcoming fixtures
Captaincy Corner
This is a pretty cut-and-dry case of In Bruno We Trust, for me. He’s been ridiculously consistent for ages now, and gets Leeds at home this week. Easy peasy.
Obviously Haaland could have some fun against Chelsea’s shaky defence, but I trust Bruno vastly more right now.
If you want to be edgy and alternative then you could go for Bowen against Wolves, or even Welbeck against Burnley… but I would strongly advise against either. As usual, with captaincy, you’ll most likely be rewarded for just being boring and playing it safe.
Final Thoughts
Right-o, that’ll just about do it for your Gameweek 32 transfer tips. Again, I know doubles and blanks are very much dominating everyone’s thoughts this week… but we’ve got a big old article about that already, and hopefully this also helped out the non-chip users out there!
As ever, any and all feedback is welcome, preferably via Reddit. Either way, thanks for reading, everybody, and best of luck out there in Gameweek 32.
