FPL Gameweek 29 is one of the most challenging weeks in the challenging part of the FPL season.

We are fresh off the back of an FPL gameweek where Solanke doubled and missed a penalty in the most classic, most hilarious FPL story. Things were slightly better after Wednesday. But, lets be honest, we hoped for me.

And here we go into a blank.

Slightly different setup this week. There are only four games and most people will be on Free Hit so we are zoning in on them.

Top Talking Points

Blank, Blank, Blankety Blank

Who got that reference? Nobody? Okay, moving on.

Gameweek 29 is a big blank. Only eight teams play this week:

Haaland sucks now?

There was some shit on the Twitternet about Haaland being rubbish against good teams now. Fuck that. He is still the best asset in FPL. Hold him forever. He has a blank this week but its hard for me to say that he is a bad buy this week. That is how good he is.

Should I Free Hit?

If you still have the Free Hit available and you cannot field more than eight or nine players then yes. If you can field more than that, then there is no need to do that.

What if you aren’t on Free Hit?

Don’t go mad with hits. Most likely the players you bring in won’t deliver. So, I suggest you try to get as many players out as possible whilst taking a -4.

And if you’re looking for inspiration as to who to focus on…

Best Three Players for Gameweek 29

Son – He is the most premium asset that plays this week. He is no Haaland or Salah – he isn’t that reliable. However, he can still get a hat-trick. I’m not saying he will. But that is his ceiling. Buy him on free hit, buy him as a priority if you aren’t free hitting.

Nobody else is in the same league as Sonny. But, in my opinion the other two are:

Toney – He plays against the worst team in the league in my opinion. He could have a big one. He hasn’t looked great as he seems to be dropping into the midfield a lot but he is the best attacking asset in the best fixture of the week.

Watkins – You probably already own him. You will be tempted to move him out on free hit just for fun but I don’t think it’s a great idea because this is a guy that can get three attacking returns in one game and we wouldn’t be surprised.

Match-by-Match Preview

Burnley v.s. Brentford

Burnley: Firstly, everyone at Burnley sucks. It’s not worth having any of them in your team in my mind.

Brentford: A Toney and Wissa double up could be very fun. They are both good, like to score and have a great fixture.

Flekken is probably the template keeper. The trouble is, Brentford’s defence has not been good since the end of last calendar year.

It is very hard to find clean sheets this week so I will probably be going with him. I wouldn’t advise to double up but if you want a defender instead of Flekken then go Roerslev.

Luton v.s. Nottingham Forest

Luton: Luton are fun and actually quite good. I like Morris as he is on pens and talismanic striker for Luton. Doughty is also a great pick because all defenders suck and he can get an assist.

Forest: Gibbs-White is on pens so he is a great pick. I like Awoniyi too after his great start to the season. The only thing with Forest is they have a new manager and he seems to be changing his team about quite a lot.

Fulham v.s. Tottenham Hotspurs

Spurs: Son should be in your team. Maddi-son feels like he is a given too mainly because of a lack of other good options in midfield. He hasn’t been incredible since coming back from injury but we know he has that creative spark that can deliver an assist and occasionally he scores a low xG goal to annoy me.

Porro and Udogie are good attacking defenders. They aren’t great, they probably won’t keep a clean sheet and Porro has been less attacking recently, but slim pickings.

Fulham: If you want to have some fun then picking Muniz for Fulham could be a good one.

I quite like Leno too. Again, I don’t expect any clean sheets but he has shown he can get some save points.

West Ham v.s. Aston Villa

West Ham: It’s not a great fixture but Bowen was one of the first names in my team for this week. He is a great player with capability to get a goal or two.

I don’t mind a punt on Ward-Prowse but he is sitting on my bench as I think there are better options. He is probably good because Villa concede a lot from set pieces. Paqueta is fine I guess, he might be on pens. Kudus is more fun of an attacker for me.

Aston Villa: I spoke about Watkins already. I don’t really like Douglas Luiz in normal times but given the limited amount to pick from then I would pick him. I don’t think you can confidently pick Moreno or Digne.

Captaincy Corner

The simple thing to do is captain Son. It’s not a great fixture but he is the best asset. I don’t mind Toney or Watkins either but it’s all a bit of a gamble.

James’s Moves

I’m on Free Hit! As of Thursday evening it looks like this:

That’s it.

Good luck everyone!
