FPL Gameweek 24 Preview

God, remember when we used to have double gameweeks here, there, and everywhere? Those were the days!

Well, they were the days if you were a complete Fantasy Premier League nerd, like your pals here at Full 90 FPL. If you were a normal person who had more important things to worry about, you probably forgot about quite a few of them and got outscored by those aforementioned nerds.

Anyway, in a blast from the past (i.e. every season up until this one), we’ve actually got a double gameweek this week – how exciting!

Naturally, we’ll be investigating that in exhaustive detail in our FPL Gameweek 24 preview. We’ll also cover the best upcoming FPL fixtures, have our usual Should I Buy/Sell sections, and plenty more besides.

Double Gameweek 24 – Everton and Liverpool

Unless you’ve been living under a rock (/just don’t take FPL far too seriously like we do), you’ll know that Liverpool and Everton both double in Gameweek 24.

They play each other, to make up for the derby that got called off in early December. Then:

How seriously should we take all this? How many players do we need from each team? Let’s investigate!

(Yes, for the Full 90 FPL faithful – we did cover this in our Gameweek 23 preview, and the advice hasn’t changed that much!)

How Many Everton Assets Do You Need?

None. That doesn’t mean picking up one is a bad idea, though.

Their fixtures look decent in the medium term, especially if you’re dead-ending into Blank Gameweek 29, as they’re guaranteed to play that week. Someone like Pickford or Mykolenko could be solid options.

The issue? They’re just not very good at football. Their defence has actually been solid this season, keeping seven clean sheets, but their attack is dreadful—they’ve scored the second-fewest goals in the league.

To make things even murkier, we don’t know if they’ll improve or decline under their new (but also old) manager, David Moyes.

So, I cannot bring myself to bring in Ndiaye as I will literally want to sell him as soon as this double over.

If you already have an Everton player, play them. If you need a cheap defender, Mykolenko is a decent shout. But don’t waste two transfers bringing one in just to get rid of them straight away.

How Many Liverpool Assets Do You Need?

Probably two. Maybe three.

Let’s start with the easy bit—Salah is essential for the double. But surely you already own him?

In defence, van Dijk is the safest for minutes, while Robertson is the least reliable. Trent has the highest ceiling, but Konaté is the cheapest. My advice is ignore Robbo and then just get whichever one fits into your team.

In attack, outside Salah only Luis Díaz or Cody Gakpo are worth considering. Díaz is classified as a midfielder in FPL, while Gakpo is a forward.

Based on the CL this week we think Gakpo is on pens when Salah is off the pitch. But, Gakpo started and played 52 mins, whereas Diaz wasn’t even on the bench, so he is more likely to play 180 mins in the double.

Probably you just take whichever one where you have space (e.g. take Gakpo if you have a forward slot to play with).

What to Do With Your FPL Chips

Should I Triple Captain Salah This Week?

Well, he’s the best player in the game, and he’s doubling.

So, yes – probably!

If You Have All Your Chips Remaining

Then you probably want to use one of bench boost, triple captain or assistant manager now, one in 33 and one at the end of the season for league cups and head to head leagues.

That means triple captain is a good one to use because you probably don’t have a good bench (as you are far away from wildcard).

And, frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Liverpool took 5 points from their next three games. That’s okay but not great. I think there is more upside for your assistant manager later in the year.

If You Don’t Have All Your Chips

Then use your AM in DGW 24, or BB in DGW 24 and AM around 33.

As above, focus on the DGWs and use your TC and AM around them.

Roll, roll, roll – try and not use transfers. Try to make it through both blanks this way.

Probably similar to above, and try to roll as much as possible. The most difficult part will be getting through DGW 33 and then BGW 34, so try and FH in 34.

Should I Sell?

And now let’s take a look at the most-sold players in FPL, ahead of Gameweek 24.

Captaincy Corner

Technically I said it was a super-easy decision to pick Salah last week, for the home game against Ipswich. And Isak outscored him.

Well, I don’t care! It’s definitely Salah again, in a double gameweek.
